Experian doesn't require any proof from CA

I just spoke with someone at Experian regarding a dispute I filed.  The representative said that the CA only has to respond to Experian via electronic submission saying "yes the account is valid" or "no".  They don't have to provide any kind of documentation.  Experian also told me that even if the CA doesn't provide me with proper DV, they will not remove the TL.  They said I could take the issue up with the BBB or FTC.

Is this really true?  What's the point of disputing then?  It seems most CAs would just say "YES! It's a valid account" no matter what.  Experian doesn't consider what the consumer has to say or any documentation.

OK the first question is whether or not it is a valid debt.  The creditor does not respond in writing nor do they verify, its the same across all bureaus, if the creditor says 'yes' it says.

You can contact the FTC and I have done so on several occasion with reaged accounts and invalid debts (among other things) and they have been successfully removed.  that is your next lne of defense.

If the debt is truly invalid, you can file a complaint against the party online at www.ftc.gov
