Experian website

So I also get scores from Experian via USAA.  There website says that they use FICO 08.  Why such a difference between there site and myfico?  Is Experian lying?

Have you had no changes in the past 2 months or so?  Were they updated on the same day?

USAA is not providing an Experian FICO score but what's known as a plus score or FAKO while the Experian website is providing a FICO 08 score therefore much more useful.  Here is an explanation of the Plus score:

"

The PLUS Score® is a number that is designed to be indicative of your overall credit risk. Each PLUS Score is a score calculated by Experian® based on information in the individual credit report provided by each of the 3 major credit bureaus. PLUS Scores are not used by lenders and you should not rely on them exclusively to understand how lenders will view your creditworthiness. Lenders use several different credit scoring models."

Where do you see that they're providing FICO 8 scores?  USAA does not provide FICO's.  The score I see when I look at my USAA cards is a VantageScore, indicated at the bottom of the page if I click on the "Score Factor Details and FAQ's" link which is in the secured section of the site so I can't post a link here.

USAA's CCMP provides a PLUS score as indicated above.  See also:

https://www.usaa.com/inet/pages/creditcheck_monitoring_main

Calculated on the PLUS score model, your Experian Credit Score indicates your relative credit risk level for educational purposes and is not the score used by lenders. The PLUS Score, with scores ranging from 330 to 830, is a user friendly credit score developed by Experian to help you see and understand how lenders view your credit worthiness. It is not used by lenders, but is indicative of your overall credit risk. Higher scores represent a greater likelihood that you’ll pay back your debts so you are viewed as being a lower credit risk to lenders. A lower score indicates to lenders that you may be a higher credit risk.

I'm guessing that you're looking at the Experian site.  Experian does offer a FICO 8 but that's not relevant to the scores that you get from USAA.  USAA is providing the scores so you need to refer to their site for details on the scores offered.  If you want the FICO 8 from Experian then you have to get it directly from Experian.

Re: Experian website

I see.... you did better digging then I did.  I could not find anything on the USAA website so I looked at the Experian website and thought that it MUST be the same as the USAA website.  After I saw your post I went back to USAA and found that.  Myficoscore has been tracking pretty close to what they had on the experian site so I did not think that they were any different.  But when I looked last night it had gone up about 10 - 15 pts on all my scores.  So I checked myfico and nothing has changed.  The Exprerian I had to update by pressing a button.  Myfico there is no event happening that would cause me to see a score change.  One of my USAA cards should be coming up today I hope to show the statement balance and that would cause a event and should update my scores.

Re: Experian website

So then my next question would be..... Why?  why would Experian give you a non-fico score when it is pretty much useless?  I could see if everyone was using it but from what I read nobody does.... so again.... WHY?
