FICO SCORES

Is there somewhere you can get/see a list of what the credit ranges are? For example, what is 300 -499 or whatever it is, what is the next level and so on. In other words 300-499 is very poor, or whatever and then the next level is poor and the next level good..... I recently got a copy of my credit report and in the "credit score" section it says I'm 579/poor.   Also, when companies report payments (which I understand is what changes your scores) how quickly does it affect your score (in other words does an on time payment give you 2 points on your credit) or do they only report them every 3 months or something, cause it seems like I'm not far from being in the "good" or even "fair" category and would love to have some kind of idea how long it's gonna take me to move up. Thanks.
