Re: Fico score simulator

The simulator said 735-785 and I'm at 775.  Leaves a pretty wide range, but it's still cool.

Re: Fico score simulator

Its a great simple tool - it seems to be able to predict the aging of your credit fairly accurately if you have newer credit.

The bands have to be wide because it doesn't account for some of the more sophisticated parts of the algorithms - such as % of cards with balances or credit mix.

It does try to account for revolving and installment length, revolving and somewhat installment util, deliquincies and baddies, etc.

My range was 710-760 and I am at 744 on EQ. In a years time it predicts I will be 730-780 if I open no new accounts and have a clean history, so here is hoping that I am on the upper end of that. Going out 2 years, it predicts 735-785 and the only change on that is lower total utility (predicting my installment loan paying down will gain me 5 points).

Re: Fico score simulator

Tried the Fico simulator and it was way off with my scores.   It stated my scores should be between 605--655 and I am at a 506 as of June 30.  I don't understand.  If someone can give me some advise it would be greatly appreciated.  Here is the rundown.

14 collections; 10 medical(most recent was from 2003); 1 gym (date from 2003;moved); 3 utilities (date from 2005)

Student loan 18k ; deferred start repaying July 2008

Auto loan; last delinquent Jan. 2005 - 30 day late

Credit cards recently approved and open balance
Target - open Dec 2007
Tribute - open Jan 2008
Cap One - open Mar 2008
HSBC - open Mar 2009

I thought opening accounts will increase scores but they dropped.  When I was approved in March, my scores were 544-Eq, 576- TU

If anyone can advise on how to get score to moving up.  Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Fico score simulator

I had mixed results.  Since my reports are all slightly different, I ran the Estimator three times.

TU: Estimate: 715 - 765.  FICO: 744 (right on the money)
EQ: Estimate: 670 - 720.  FICO: 721 (one point off on the high end)
EX: Estimate: 750 - 800.  FICO: 725 (estimate much too high)

Re: Fico score Estimator (not simulator)

From the estimable Estimator:

EQ: 655 - 705 (705)
TU: 665 - 715 (724)
EX: 670 - 720 (723) <-- edit: ran it with 3 inqs instead of 2 (only 2 within one year)

I think that all my estimated scores are lowered due to the fact that I had to click "5-6 accounts with balances", even thought that's out of 15 active TL's, and two CC balances are miniscule. Hard to tell, though.

*******

For everyone playing with the Estimator, remember that on Question 3, when it asks you "How many loans or credit cards have you applied for in the last year?" it's asking you how many inqs do you have on whichever report you're modeling! This is the inq question, not the new account question. (That's question 4.)

So if you have lots of inqs on one or two reports, and 0 or 1 on a third, you'll get a different result.

Re: Fico score Estimator (not simulator)

When I check my TU hard copy it says they have credit history for me since 1976. However Credit At A Glance says my history is 12 years. Obviously it only shows accounts still on the report and anything gone such as old mortgages or paid off car loans is gone. When the Estimator asks how long ago did I apply for my first loan I imagine I need to go by Credit At A Glance correct?

Yes, you're estimating your score based on the data on your reports, since that's the data that is used to generate the real FICO score, whether that data is completely accurate or not.

Re: Fico score Estimator (not simulator)

The estimator is right on for me - says my range is 740 to 790 - I'm exactly in the middle at 765. Cool tool to play with! Smiley Happy
