Finding dates of deletion (sol)

I have purchased reports here, and directly through TU, EQ, EX. I still do not have definite time frames as to when the derogs will delete. I called TU and they told me the dates. I cant get through to someone to save my life at EX. I just got of the phone with someone at EQ and they told me I need to pay them and then dispute them. She said thats the only way they will come off. I mentioned SOL to her and she was clueless as to what I was talking about. If I know my TU DOFD, can I accurately judge the others by those? In the next 3 months, 3 of my derog accounts will fall off. by the end of next year they will all be past sol. Should I just start disputing to see what can come off now? what risk am I taking? Edit: Im pissed and ready to take action. Right now, I am going to the gym. When I get back I will post my accounts on here and hopefully I can get some advice. I think the ones that are due for deletion over the next three months, leave alone. The others I should maybe dispute?

Re: Finding dates of deletion (sol)

The representative had no idea what SOL was because that is used when talking about how long a creditor has to take legal action.

What you are talking about is credit reporting time period.......which is 7 years from DOFD. However, the 7 years doesn't begin counting until 180 days past DOFD. So, the account can actually remain for up to 7.5 years from DOFD.

The DOFD for each account should be the same on each CR.

On EQ, look for DOLA or DOFD. On EX and TU, they usually say "this account scheduled to remain until XXXX"

When you call the CRA, you need to ask for "FCRA Compliance Date" or "Date of Removal"

You should not dispute anything that is accurate.

Thank you Sidewinder! When you say I should not dispute anything that is accurate, is that because it's a lowlife thing to do? Or is it because it has a very good chance of backfiring?

I'll answer for sidewinder, because I think he's taking a well-earned break with the fam.

The answer would be: both! Plus it's against forum rules to discuss or advocate doing this.

As to the back-firing, disputing legit closed accounts can make them refuse to report the account any more, and many here have found that the length of time that the account was open (the history) was much more helpful than the derog was hurting. They wound up with a score drop. Disputing legit open accounts can result in a Fraud Alert being slapped on all three of your reports, and good luck trying to get it off.

That's just astonishing that the EQ CSR was advising you to do this. Amazing.
