First GW respond not too good.

I just receipt a respond from SallieMae regarding my late payment. They basicly said that they have to report accurate information to the FCRA. What should I do next? Below is what the letters said.

Dear MyName

Thank you for your inquiry and your business with Sallie Mae. In response to your recent request, we have researched your concerns regarding your student loan account with Sallie Mae. Specifically, you requested a credit bureau retraction of the derogatory information reported to the national credit agencies.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires lenders to report accurate informtion to credit bureaus, and Sallie Mae cannot retroactiverly reverse correct information previously reported.

After researching your accout, we determined that it was correctly serviced according to regulations. It is for this reason that we cannot honor your request for a credit bureau retraction.

If you have any questions, please contact our office at xxx-xxx-xxxx or write to us at the address listed on the letterhead. Please provide the account number at the time of inquiry to expedite our response to you. You may also visit our website at www.salliemae.com

Sincerely,

NOT signed.

Customer Service
Sallie Mae.

Re: First GW respond not too good.

Sorry Eddy. I wouldn't give up though. Maybe try again in the near future. Did you have a good reason for being late? Sometime's if something beyond your control happend and you explained that in your request, someone sympathetic will respond.

Re: First GW respond not too good.

THe reason why i was late was because I had about 6 loans with them and each one of them was 50 dollars a month and my income was too low at that time. I then got a good job and I consolidate my loans and I haven't been late since I consolidate. I haven't been late in any payment in a year and a half now.

Re: First GW respond not too good.

Did you explain that in your GW letter? If not, I would and send it again. Keep sending if you have to until you get a favorable response. Surely someone is bound to get it that may help you. Tell them you have been on time for the past year and a half and it won't happen again. Smiley Happy

Re: First GW respond not too good.

This makes me more grateful that my boss paid for my tuition.

I would still keep sending GW's. Maybe spread them out a couple of months. Is there different addresses you can send to? Maybe if there is a different office, it may help for someone different to get it.
