First PFD, need help....

Ok...been reading the website for a few weeks now, and have started using the PFD's for both my wife and I to get our credit in gear. Got our first response today in regards to one and need help on the next step:

*Sent the standard PFD that Tuscani recommended tailored to my CA.
*Asked for a 50% settlement (not sure I should have) of $151 to Northwest Collectors Inc.
*They politely sent back the PFD with handwriting the settlement amount stating "no thank you"
*Also sent a letter that states:

'To Whom It May Concern:

Enclosed please find the itemized statement you requested which evidences your obligation.

For your convenience, I have included a self-addressed, postage-paid envelope for your check or money order payable to NCI. Be sure to include your account number on your check or money order.

If you prefer to pay with a credit card, simply call our office with your Discover, Visa or Mastercard account number and expiration date. Or you may pay online by visiting: www.epaymyaccount.com
'

What do I do? I can pay the whole amount no problem. But no where does it state that they will delete!
Help!!

Re: First PFD, need help....

Send another PFD for the full amount.

Is it past SOL? If so, you might incorporate the "Past SOL" letter into the PFD.

Re: First PFD, need help....

It is not past the SOL. So, the best option would be to send another PFD for full amount?

Have you DV'd?  I am not saying that sending a PFD for full amount is the BEST option, but it is an option.

Did not DV, as I know that the debt is my wife's. It is old medical debt that we are trying to get paid and removed.

1. You will probably have more success if you offer PFD with the full amount. If you ask for a settlement, they're *already* doing you a favor by accepting less than the full amount due. can't expect them to then do another favor by then deleting it from your CR.

2. In PFDing my med collections, I've had a lot of success in contacting the OC first. If the OC agrees to PFD, then pay them and have them authorize the CA to delete. Again, just make sure you get it in writing. To speed up the process, once you get an initial phone call in to establish a relationship with the supervisor (ALWAYS ask for a supervisor, the regular CSRs in billing usually don't know anything about PFD), do everything over email... this will save you time in mailing & serve as your record.

Have you tried talking to the OC and seeing if they still own the account and can pull it back from collections?

Other than that, keep trying PFDs.

Find a higher up to address the PFD too.
