Fraud Alert?

I just saw the following message on the 'Consumer Statement' portion of the PrivacyMatters credit report:

Equifax:FRAUD VICTIM. "INITIAL ALERT". CONSUMER HAS REQUESTED AN ALERT BE PLACED ON THEIR CREDIT FILE. CONSUMER DID NOT PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

Anybody know what could trigger this if I never requested anything? I disputed with them, and the results came back last week, but this alert just popped up today out of the blue.

She disputed 2 credit card charge-offs, but no inquiries. It looks like she'll give it a few days and see if it stays on the report, as I'm sure privacymatters (and similar companies) have glitches now and then.

Re: Fraud Alert?

YES.... I am doing my son & daughter-in-law's CR....... I did nothing but dispute and received a letter from EQ saying that they would notify other 2 CBs about a fraud alert........I never asked for it!

The fraud alert is now showing on all 3.........I have faxed EQ & told them that I did not request an alert & to remove it!!!!!! I also reminded them that all I did was dispute and I was expecting an answer to it within the original time limit........then I faxed the other 2 CBs....to remove it

The CRA's seem to be getting really vindictive about being asked to simply do their jobs. Smiley Tongue
