We disputed a couple of addresses on my husband's EQ CR. EQ has sent us a response (and they removed the incorrect addresses).
In the fine print, it says we can call a toll free number to request a copy of our credit file. The response has a Confirmation # on it.
Does this mean we get a free report that does not count as our annual free one? Can I get this online with the Confirmation #, or do I have to wait until their office opens?
Hi, I tried to access this free EQ report online because I had a Confirmation #. I was in an automated system, and it never asked me for the confirmation number...just ss#, address, etc. I got through the system, and it said that, according to their records, they had just sent us an updated credit report with our dispute resolution.
Well...no. All we got was a 1-page explanation of what they did.
I'll call customer service when they open on Tuesday. It would be nice to get a free copy if we have one coming.
We disputed the same incorrect addresses with TU recently. When they removed the addresses and notified us, they did send us an updated CR with the dispute resolution notice. EQ did not, however.
LynetteM,
In the past when I've disputed they have have sent me a new one reflecting the outcome of the disputes and details about them.
Good Luck
Jack, they sent me a notice with the corrected addresses...but no copy of the credit report. It was only some incorrect prior addresses that we were disputing.
I'll call them on Tuesday. I'm wondering, however, if I only got a copy of the personal information section since I didn't dispute anything to do with the accounts section???
I like to follow up on things like this so that I can understand the process better.
Thanks,
You should not have to ask, it is automatically supposed to be sent.
It has happened to me several times. I think it is EQ that send me a separate report and didn't enclose it with the results page. Came a couple weeks later.
I have also disputed things and nothing has ever been resolved, no letter, no nothing.

Since I made my original post, we have now had a 2nd dispute settled with EQ. Once again, all we got was a letter with the resolution of the dispute, but no hard copy of the credit report. And they did acknowledge making changes in our report (dispute resolved in our favor). 8 lates gone..woo hoo!
Both times, in the dispute resolution notice they sent us, they gave us a toll free number to call if we wanted to request a free copy of our credit report. Each time we attempted to use their toll free system (quite lengthy), we got an automated voice that said their records show that they sent us a copy of the result when the dispute was resolved. Well...they didn't...either time...not with the dispute resolution or in a separate mailing. We waited...nothing.
This time, however, we called a regular customer service number. My husband went through the drill again with a live CSR, and they now say they are sending a free copy that we should receive in 7-10 days.
It shouldn't be that much work to get a copy after dispute resolution.
LynetteM,
Maybe they have changed their policy, it's the only thing I can come up with. I hope you do get the hard copy finally.
