GW Letter Success and question...

I have never posted on here but I have been lurking around the posts and grabbed one of the good will letters and sent it to a collection company that I had on my CR and it was paid. I asked them to release me ( I sent the letter yesterday) and I was released today! My Credit Score went up 61 points!!!

I was wondering if now I would get approved for a better credit card?? I have 2 credit cards (one is new and had a $39 fee) and I've had Capital One for about 1 year and 1/2 and I have never been late in any payment. I have no other collections or bad accounts.

Am I going to get approved now for a credit card? My score was 612 and now it is 673....

Re: GW Letter Success and question...

Thank you for your response.

I have looked at that website. My question, I have applied to 2 credit cards recently and they were both denied as I had a collection. Does my new, higher credit score mean more approvals?

I have 0 delinquicies but my credit is pretty low. I am 20 years old and only have 1 credit card that I've had for a year and half and have never paid late. And 1 credit card which I've opened recently with HSBC with a $39 fee that they stuck on me by surprise (through a pre-approved offer)

I want to have around 4 credit cards to keep low utilization on all of them and pay them on time and hopefully build a good credit history.

Any advice on if I should apply to a credit card or no? And will they start approving me? I'm scared to get any more denials and lowering my credit score!!

By the way GREAT advice with the GW letters! Everyone should give it a try!!

Re: GW Letter Success and question...

I erased the letter I sent. I went to the collection agency's website and got all of the emails, CEO, presidents, collection manager... I emailed ALL of them. i sent one of the GW letters posted on here except I changed a few words. I said the bill had been paid, I was not receiving the collection letters and when I received it was too late they had already reported. i also sent letters to the actual address.

I thought it wouldn't work either but to my surprise the next day I got a myFICO score alert that my score was up +62 or so..

Definitely keep trying and write as many people as possible!
