I'm trying to finally do things the right way, and wondering where I START with this?Do medical bills count the same as non-medical? (meaning would it be better to start paying off the nonmedical first?)Once an account is paid, I know it is not removed from my credit report, but does it affect my score at all?I've read that a CA is allowed to post an update each month, but does that bump up when the item will fall off? Does it restart the 7 years all over each month? Or is it supposed to be 7 years from when the item first appeared?I'm not sure but I think a collection is a collection. Whether nmedical or not would come into play if someone were eyeballing your report. Most lenders may turn a blind eye to a medical collection moreso than a credit account.A paid collection will not raise your score. I paid off several and saw no increase as the FICO score still uses them to predict the likelihood of repayment. That beign sai an open collection is more a reason for denial than a paid collectionWhen a CA reports each month it does not re age the entry, it still falls off 7 yrs after the date of last delinquecy with the original creditor.
