Getting credit reports from annualcreditreport.com

Good Morning!!!

I was wondering. Once you get your free credit reports online, can you call the credit bureaus & have them mail you a paper copy? Or will they charge you for it? As I am looking through my reports, it seems that the paper copy varies substantially from what I can print out - no drop off dates or anything...on any of the reports! Does anyone have any information about this?

Also, I have read mixed reviews about disputing online/via snail mail. Is it significantly faster to go through the process online? I have read mostly that you have limited options as to why you are disputing information if you do it online.

Just one question to clarify: on the online versions, if there is an option to click "printable view" or "print", have you clicked that? (I can't remember what the online version looks like, but it might have a condensed display, and you would need to open it fully. This is true of myFICO, TrueCredit, and other reports.)

What you see on the screen is what should be printed. Maybe it is a printer issue. I did have a similar problem with EX where the drop off date (anything to the right) would get lopped off. I took my mouse and highlighted everything, copied and pasted into Word and that seemed to help. TU was fine. Remember, EQ doesn't have a drop off date.

If you dispute, I'd recommend via mail CMRRR. It is faster online, but it is one computer talking to another. You can describe the issue more clearly via mail.

Whoops...got my CRs mixed up. Had the problem with EX.

Re: Getting credit reports from annualcreditreport.com

Last night, I got one of my credit reports (Experian) from annualcreditreport.com.    At first, I was frustrated because the information that I wanted (drop off dates) wasn't there.    I flipped from screen to screen, reading everything possible, but nothing mentioned drop off dates.    So I gave up and decided to print the return just for keeping a record.   However when I clicked the link to get the printable copy, the information appeared.    And, in fact, it was on the hard copy I printed.

So without knowing which report you requested, I have to agree with the person who suggested that what we get on screen is really just a summary.   At least with the Experian report, what I printed was MUCH more in depth and gave me the info I wanted.

Re: Getting credit reports from annualcreditreport.com

Thanks for the info!!! I decided that I'm going to try & get some small things corrected on my credit reports, & then they will have to send me a new paper copy. Smiley Wink Those should have the dates on them that I am looking for. I found some older copies in my home office that have them, so I know I'm not crazy...just can't figure out what the difference is.

So I will wait until I get my "dispute" copies. If necessary, I will request new credit reports in writing around December or January.
