Hey All,
My (deceased) uncle is the only one in my family that was in the military. I really want to join NavyFed but when I called they said that I'm not eligible on my own. My mother is eligible to join and if she did then I could join through her.
She's elderly and stubborn in her ways. I asked her if she'd join and I even offered to pay/put money into the account for her but she refuses.
Do I have any other options on how to get in? I've joined PenFed and they're good but I really really want to join NavyFed.
FYI I'm familiar the eligibility list on the site and I don't have anyone in my household that was in the military which is why I'm asking here if there may be other options.
Anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!
Unfortunately no as you are aware of the guidelines and your way in would be from your mother .
Years ago you could get a different route but that door was shut quite some time ago .

It was the San Diego naval council but that loophole shut down I believe in 2018 maybe . No other ways then through guidelines on website
I just googled them. lol looks like it was a pretty popular loophole. They have a notice about it on their site. 😂
Yes as I said that was years ago only way in is the traditional way .
Go see your local recruiter.
You can also get in if anyone in the household is a member. So that could be an unrelated roomate (whether veteran or not), etc. Any buddies that are members that could sleep on your couch for a week?

I joined NFCU earlier this month and happened to ask this question while I was in the branch. Officially, there would need to be proof of residency. They gave examples like driver's licenses with matching addresses, a property tax bill showing both owner's names, and a lease agreement showing both names. Unofficially, a referral from a current member might be enough though they might ask how much each person contributes to the household budget.

I am sorry but I do not recommend this way to sneak in . This is for military and their families and they earned that right , while yes household is acceptable this above us just shady and unethical.
