Getting married with bad credit

I just learned that my FICO score is low and my fiance and I want to purchase a home. He has excellent credit...should we just apply for mortgages in his name.? Will my credit have any effect if my name is not on the mortgage?

He can apply for the mortgage in his name as long as his income can support the loan.  Our home loan is in DHs name only, but I'm on the paperwork for the home.

First, you should look into getting your fico score up.

No, but your income and assets won't be considered either. You may have to sign a statement with the lender releasing any future claims you may have against the property.

Is there anything on your CR that can be dealt with to help you?

Which of you is the highest wage earner?

You might post over in the "installment and mortgage" forum. You'll get lots of advice there.
