Well I have a doosy of a story for my MyFico family, I basically read a couple of posts on PFD emails and researched the CEO of Global Credit Network and tried some email equations that included his name. Well I immediately got the response from my email carrier that all but one was undeliverable due to the addresses being incorrect. The sole survivor actually got to the CEO. Well, I hadn't heard a response so I thought he just ignored and I had resigned to just let it go.
Well, today as I'm walking in my front door by Blackberry goes off with an email in response from the CEO!
He basically said in the email that although he has some limitations on what can be done to call him on either his private line or his cell so we can discuss further. So I'm sitting on the couch wondering if I should call or just email him back when I threw caution to the wind and called his office, no answer. Of course I wouldn't let that stop me so I called his cell phone from a private number. He answered!!!!
I explained who I was and he asked that since he gave me his personal number to call him back from an unrestricted number as a good faith effort. I did, so then we start talking about my problem which is a collection from 2006 from a dental procedure that I was left with the balance of paying after my insurer at the time. The reason this was even able to get on the credit is because the original creditor gave them the wrong address and I was basically never notified. So he offers that if I pay the collection off and send proof of payment directly to him that he would write a letter to the original creditor requesting that they voluntarily remove from the CRA.
He then starts just talking about everything else under the sun, we're talking about me gearing up to buy a house, what type of work I do, his businesses, his current credit battles!!! He's personally trying to get a business purchase (company car) that he brought for the collection agency that was put on his personal credit removed as it is an asset of the company but since he is the Guarantor they're giving him a hard time. Can you believe this??? I couldn't even make this up!!!!
So we close the conversation with the expectation that he will write this letter once payment is made and proof is forwarded to him blah, blah, blah.
Tell me what you think? I know I've already broken the cardinal rule but I really think that the end result is amicable.
Am I being naieve? I have attached the emails between us below.

Subject: Inaccurate Reporting
Good Evening,
My name is edited XXXXXXX, I am writing on behalf of the miscommunication in notification on behalf of your collection agency.
In 2005, I received care from University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, upon receiving care, I was billed for the remainder of the procedure that was not covered by my insurance. I was unaware of these happenings because the bill was sent to the incorrect address. I was not a resident of the address that the bill was sent to (XXXX XXXXXXXXXAvenue Philadelphia, PA XXXXX) I was a resident of XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Philadelphia, PA XXXXX and have been for the last 10 years. I assume that this address was provided to the agency by the original creditor, I am unsure why this address was given but that is the address that I was told by a CSR that the original notification by Global Credit Network was sent. I discovered this error upon receiving my credit report and discovering Global Credit Network as a collector on this account.
After numerous attempts to reconcile this matter with the Customer Service Department, I have as a last resort reached out to you in the effort to correct this miscommunication. I have no problem with paying the requested $328.00 as reported on my credit report but I ask that this entry be deleted from my Equifax and Experian reports due to the failure of receiving initial notification by your credit agency. How could I have reconciled this matter if I wasn't aware of it due to an incorrect mailing address? As a Good Faith gesture on both of our parts in the interest of myself paying a debt that I clearly owe and putting this mistake behind me, If payment is made in full, can this be deleted from my credit report.? Any assistance you could privde in this matter would be greatly appreciated. If you need to contact me regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me at the address provided below.
Thank you for your consideration.
