Hi, I apologize if I am posting this topic in the wrong section, but feel free to flame away. I was wondering how effective are goodwill letters on cc accounts that have been sent to collection. I notice that the actual CA is not listed on my credit report, but rather just it's listed as charge-offs under the cc on my report. Would I write a GW letter to the CC company or the collection agency? I apologize if this was already covered in the forum, I did a search and it didnt turn up anything. Thanks, ibe
oops, sorry, forgot to add in that I didn't take the settlement offer offered from the collection agency. I just paid it all in full. so would my chances of having a GW letter be more effective since I did pay everything in full?
would I have to include anything else besides the letter when mailing it out? or just the cc number on the letter? any other documents that I would need? I just finished typing up the letters, and couldn't find anything under tuscani's posting on what else to include that will help my case.
Check your TU report. They almost always list account numbers in full. Include that number. OCs sometimes when closing defaulted accounts assign a new account number to use as reference.
thanks again Noah! You're been such a big help, I just pulled a copy of my TU report, and the address and phone numbers are all on there, and the cc accounts as well. ^_^
