Re: Goodwill Letters

i just realized this, but it seems that the collection agencies aren't on my CR directly, but the CCC list my "credit obligations" as Paid Charge Offs, closed by grantor, sold to collection, etc etc, but i can't find the names of the collection agencies anywhere on my reports. now are these because the CA didn't report it, right? and so would my GW letters go directly to the CCC/Original Creditor? I just want to make sure before I put the stamps on these envelopes and seal the deal.

anyone else have luck with GWs to Chase, Cap One, CitiBank, Household/HSBC?

thanks,
ibe

Re: Goodwill Letters

That means you got it taken care of before the CA reported. Good job.

Send the GW letters to the OC's

Re: Goodwill Letters

Thanks! It just seems odd that my 6 charge-offs were from 2003, and i just paid them in full in may 2006, and yet nothing on my CRs...hmmm, this is just probably too good to be true...

I sent a PFD to Cap One less than two weeks ago. I have ask on the forums if any one has had any good luck or dealings at all with a PFD with Cap One. I have't gotten any reponses from anyone. I do know that Cap One is a hard one to deal with....they are tough.

Good luck, hopefully they will all work in your favor.

Even if the CA were on your CRs, I'd still send the GW letters to the OC. Almost always send GW to the OC. CAs have no reflection and stay outta direct sunlight.

Cap One and HSBC don't seem to be very responsive to GW attempts. But do NOT let that dissuade you. Proceed ahead and try for it.

Citi, based on past and recent experience, I'm inclined to say is receptive to GW.

Chase, I got 3 accounts deleted thru GW.

Re: Goodwill Letters

well, i just sent out 6 GW letters to the following:

CrapOne (almost typed in CapOne, but it seems the former is the popular lingo around here)

Household Bank/HSBC

M&I Bank (my very first visa card during high school)

CitiBank

1st Financial Bank

Chase

I'll keep everyone posted, and wish me luck. Now, one more question - if I get no response, do I keep sending out GWs??

Re: Goodwill Letters

If you get absolutely no response, post again after 6 weeks. Elicit for contact info anyone has found worked with a particular OC.

I just checked my CR, and my DEROG accounts went from 6 to 5, so I'm assuming one of them noticed by GW. Hopefully this boosts my FICO!!

Re: Goodwill Letters

I am new to the site, but I have learned so much in short period of time! My question is..who should a GW letter be addressed to within a company to get a positive result. I am sending one to Finance America to try to get a couple of late payments removed, but have hit a wall trying to get a name of someone to help me. Any suggestions?

Re: Goodwill Letters

I sent my GW letter a few weeks ago so I don't know if it worked yet but I just called the credit card company (Citi) and discussed my account, you know asked them about a previous purchase or something just to get them on a friendly dimeanor and then said, "Hey by the way, I had some late payments from so long ago and I was telling my friend about how much I felt like this was hurting me and for no reason since I am such a different person now and he mentioned something called a Guh...Good? Good Will Letter? Is that right?" ... "Yes" ... "Where would you send something like that to?"

Got an address and even a few pointers specific to their company. He told me not to include the account number, only the last four digits and to make sure to have my name and current address. Hope this works for me. Hopefully it somewhat answered your question too.
