I have a collection on my credit report from a dental office from 2017. I just put it aside for too long and forgot. I paid it in full shortly after it was sent to collections. I would like to request a goodwill deletion since it has been paid in full and was 3 years ago. Is it better to contact the CA or the dental center (original creditor) to request this? I am leaning towards the dental center, since it's a small business, I feel like they may be more understanding. But if it matters more to contact the CA, I will do that. Also, the CA listed on the report (choicerecov) is not the one I paid, so I am not even sure which CA I would contact.
Thanks in advance!
I would suggest the credit agency due to the dental company selling the debt to them. How much was the collection amount if you dont mind me asking?
$173. Definitely something I was capable of paying. Initally, I was waiting on insurance and then I kept thinking "I'll pay it later." I forgot all about it until I called to make the 6 month appointment and they wouldn't do it until the collection balance was paid. Ugh. I hope I'm able to make this mistake go away, instead of haunting me for the next 4 years.
Also, any idea why the CA on the report is not the one I paid? I can't figure that out. (I'm in a small town, rural area. The CA used is a local agency, so I'm certain on who I paid.)
