I've been searching on the forum and getting some really great ideas as for what to do to fix my credit and mine isn't really that awful once I pay my balances down in November. All of my lates are from 2005 and they are no more than 90 days at the most on 3 accts. My scores aren't the huge problem...but my fiance's are! I pulled his EQ last night and he's sitting at 502 with 3 judgments, 1 charge off, only 1 year of history and that's it. Where do I start with repairing his credit? The 3 judgments are from an apartment he was co-leasing with a roommate. For half of the duration of the lease he was living with me and never received the letters from the apartment as his roommate through them away. There is a different judgment for September, October, and November. He wasn't even aware of any problems until he went to pay his last month's rent in December and they told him to be in court the following Monday. No resolution was come to in court and his father, an attorney, has been dealing with the apartment people trying to figure out who really owes what. He has not heard anything from them since January. Is there anything that can be done to get these taken off or adjusted? Next is the lovely Cap1 card he got. It was his first credit card and had a $350 limit, which he never went over, but he apparently just stopped paying for it at some point (before he met me) and he now owes $707. He never received any CA communications that he is aware of. About 2 weeks ago he received a phone call from a CA offering to settle for $550 over the course of 2 paychecks. He agreed and the last amount will be withdrawn Monday. I asked him if they were going to delete the account once it was PIF and of course he said he wasn't sure but they said something about reporting PIF. With him being unsure, I do not know for sure what they will do with this account once it's paid. That said, I have no idea where to even start to get his score back on track. I considered the option of making him a AU on my accounts once they are paid down because I have a great history with AMEX, Wachovia Visa, and Citibank, which are just the cards that I actively use, but not knowing when FICO '08 is going into effect, I'm not sure how much this will help him. I apologize for the length of this post, I'm new and I have absolutely no clue where to start with this situation. We will be trying to get a mortgage in the next year or two and he'll be needing a new car by February! Thank you for taking the time to read all of this, I know it's a mouthful!!
