HOW TO PROCEED

I received a letter from West Asset Mgmt regarding a Sprint account that I had previously fought paying, because I was being charged a fee for ending my contract too soon. Long story short, it was on my prior credit reports, it's since has dropped. This account is from 2006, it's only $163 (and I say only now, before I was upset about it). I just want to PIF, I don't even want to argue, debate etc. I can pay this asap, what should I do? I don't want this going back on my CR, and I'm thinking I should call them and tell them to give me a letter stating nothing will be put on my CR IF I pay in full? Or should I call Sprint it specifically says the account was "placed" with them, not that they owned it.

Any suggestions? TIA.

Re: HOW TO PROCEED

They can not re-insert without recertifing and they are not going to go though the trouble of doing this on a paid account-

I would just pay it-

Re: HOW TO PROCEED

Thanks Timothy, okay so I'll just pay it. Should I pay the CA or call pay Sprint? They offered me a settlement (the CA I mean) but I'm not interested I would much prefer to pay the entire balance so there is no chance of this ever coming back at me.

Re: HOW TO PROCEED

I called the CA that I received the letter, they said Sprint took the account from them, I called Sprint the CSR gave me another number, which was wrong. Finally I called back Sprint, and got a CSR who was like she should have just taken the payment. I got his name, CSR# etc, and an e-mail confirming I paid in full. I'm done with them, and the young man I spoke with claims this shouldn't go back on my CR at all.

Re: HOW TO PROCEED

I have the same issue as you do. I received a settlement offer letter from West Asset Mgt. I declined. I was wondering if I just keep continue paying the bill to Sprint than CA, when its paid off, I call all 3 credit bureaus to verify that its paid off. Then the CA will be off of my CR. let me know!!
Bank of America Privacy Assist Premier
TU - 616
EX - 607
EQ - 600

Hope to be in 700's by the end of 2011

Re: HOW TO PROCEED

Is it already on your CR report? If Sprint still owns the account then yeah you can pay them. The problem I see is if you're not paying full, then all it's going to show is paid on your CR. I've read that Sprint doesn't like to PFD. See mines was on my report then for whatever reason (reasons I refuse to ponder) it dropped off. It's not on there now, thus why I rushed to pay them in full and not do a settlement. It's a small amount, but I don't need someone coming after me for $40 bucks or so, so I just got it over with.

For example I have a paid collection on my EXP report from my Eye doctor, he claimed he was clueless that it went to collections back in 2002. I never received a bill, but I did pay it on my annual visit. It was something per my insurance I was responsible for. EXP won't remove it, and my doctor claims he's in a battle with the CA he use to use, the CA won't budge so it will be on my report until next year. I was almost tempted to change doctors, only because I see him every year, and have never in my life received a bill from him. He blamed his old biller, anyways it's all cyclic and I've settled with waiting until next year. It's the only collection paid on my CR now, the biggest issue I have are my paid tax liens. EXP and EQ are slow update them, while TU has them listed as paid.
