HSBC not showing up as Collections but affecting me negatively, how to handle?

I have an old HSBC account showing up on my CR as "Charged off as Bad Debt" however when I look at my list of Collection accounts (bought my Reports from MyFICO) I don't see this card listed so I'm looking for the best way to take care of this.

Obviously HSBC never referred this to a CA so I know I can't DV them right?

Is there any thing I can do other than the obvious calling them to make arrangements?

HSBC does not seem to be making any collection attempts on it at this point.....or so it appears

Thanks

Re: HSBC not showing up as Collections but affecting me negatively, how to handle?

ANy help with this? I'm thinking about disputing it with the CRAs but I'm worried that it will just move the account to "Collections" which is fine BUT will it show up as NEW Collection? (and therefore hurt my score right now?) or should the original charge-off date count?

This account was opened and charged off in 2002, I'm outside of the SOL.

If you can pay it............you may negotiate a PFD either for a percentage of the original balance or the full balance.

Re: HSBC not showing up as Collections but affecting me negatively, how to handle?

Thanks for the responses, however my issue is that I'm concerned about it being reported as an "open account"

Is it ok to leave it there till it drops? or should fight for it to be reported accurately as a collections?

I'm just wanting to make sure it's not "hurting" my score MORE than it should

And ya it's a fairly high balance which I don't think will be worth trying to pay off since it will be falling off within the next year anyway

If they are not updating then even a dispute will wake them up. They can not sue but they will update every month and they will bring in a CA that will also update.

I would live with it till it drops.
