Hi all,
I just wanted to share my happy dance. For a birthday present to myself, I pulled my scores. The last time I looked a them was in April...since then, I got a new Penfed Visa (in May, 2010), my mortgage turned 1, my CCs turned one and 3 (3 other cards besides the Visa), and my student loans went into deferrment (I went back to school).
So, my new scores are 799 for TU and 789 for EQ! I'm 27 today. AND this is with balances reporting on 3 cards - 1 I'm an AU on, and 2 of mine that I always pay, just happened to pay after they reported ($382 on a card with a $24k limit and $88 on a card with a $9.5k limit)....so according to the stimulator, if I paid those off, my score would be over 800! (And EQ has a baddie for my mother's card, 1 30 day late from Jan. 2006 that they won't remove, TU did remove it, thus the 10 point difference.)
So happy dance time for me and sharing time for you. And now I wait another year before checking again (the score, not the reports)...
Have a good day everyone!
Wow, those are amazing scores!
Congrats on them and on turning 27.
(Not sure which one I'm more jealous about! )
Congrats on your good work!
ETA: Happy Birthday!!!! gosh.
Wish I would have been that smart about credit when I was 27.
And congrats on school as well! All good stuff!
Congrats! and Happy Birthday!
Congrats on the scores. So you turned 27 today, happy birthday to you. Hmmmm 27, I have socks older than that in my dresser.
Peach8321, hope you had a wonderful day.
I remember when I turned your age. It was in the midst of a long, cold winter in the midwest as they often are there. It was so cold that year one morning, 31 below, that I couldn't start the car.
I had a gas card back then. It was at the time you're born, so having a card likely wasn't your highest priority. Mine neither actually, somehow it was just easier paying by the pump.
People didn't know about credit scores back then. I'm surprised at what young people have to endure now and impressed at how well they handle it. Your scores are really good!
I have two questions if you don't mind.
1) What's your take on today's young married couples along the lines of shared and/or separate finances?
2) Can you envision a situation for the young generation that may require say an 810 rather than a 790?
And now for my own happy dance. Once I hit down that post button, it'll be my #500.

+1 Congrats!!! There are a few of us here that wish we could have been as credit wise at 27 as you. And Happy Birthday!!!
+2...Congratulations on such great scores!!!
Happy Birthday and congratulations on your credit scores!
Great scores. My EQ is now back in the upper 750s after having applied for three new accounts. I went down to low 740s after two out of the three new accounts had reported. Now, one account will report soon and probably push me down again, perhaps even into the 730s for a while. I hope though to be back in the 770s next September after all of my new accounts will have turned 1. I keep my reported balances extremely low right now.
