Hard Inquires

If the Credit Card Compamny agrees to remove an hard inquiry on their end how long does it take to reflect on your report? Any way to expedite the process? Thanks

I am also waiting on a creditor to remove a hard inquiry.  It's been about two weeks and nothing yet.  I think it can take 30 days for them to update, but I might dispute it with the credit bureau soon, to speed it up.

 

Current: EQ Fico (700), EX Fico AMX (681) TU Fico Walmart (711) MyFico TU (708) Vantage: TU 803, EX 777, EQ 789
Goal: 700+ across the board.

Fraud alerts may only be placed in your credit file at the request of the consumer.  Initial fraud alerts notify others pulling your CR to be aware of potential identity theft.

They last for 90 days, and may be removed at any time simply by instructing the CRA to do so.

 

Even though they can only be entered upon request by a consumer, many parties will assume that complaints/actions by the consumer amount to an assertion of potential identity theft,and will report a fraud alert, supposedly on your authority to do so, in your credit file.

They are there for your use, and the FCRA makes it clear that the CRAs are to establish policies making their reporting as simple as possible, including by use of the telephone.

What happens after a fraud alert... Which I have because I didn't know the rules

It just makes it harder to have your CR(s) pulled. Lenders will add an extra layer of security whereby you have to verify more info before being approved. The FA of often placed after disputing an account as "not mine" or disputing an inquiry because the implication is that the account or inquiry isn't yours, and therefore, some sort of identity theft issue may have occured. I think it's good for automatic FAs, though in my early repair days I didn't know what I was doing and got one too (on DW's).

 

A fraud alert will also impact your subscriptions to different CMSs including myFICO.

 

FAs can be cleared up with a phone call on EQ, at the least...or at least when DW cleared it up for herself.

Could this be effecting my lack of SW and score increase? I did report fraud on the medical collection because I never knew it was there or even knew I had an out sourced radiologist reading from the ER.

It could, though I'll check around to be sure. I believe that having a FA reporting on your CRs will prevent you from ordering products like SW. Have you ordered any reports since contacting EQ or whoever it was?

 

When you say, "[you] did report fraud". did you place a fraud alert on your CRs?

OP, sorry for my TJ. Give them a month to update. Sometimes they only update with the CRAs once per month.

Sorry to be cynical.  But, getting a single inquiry removed must have minimal impact on the score.  Seems like the effort should be focused elsewhere.
