Hard Inquiry Merged with an Opened/Approved Account?

Hi Guys - Im just wondering if its possible to have a Hard Inquiry merged with an Approved/Opened account. I got approved for a credit card, but wanted to ask if I can request to have this merged with the open tradeline account it opened?

Also, do I send a letter to the credit agency or credit card agency requesting this?

Thanks guys

I don't understand what you are asking?

Inquiries don't get merged into accounts.  Inquiries are a separate section of the CR that indicate who and when somebody received a copy of your CR.

For scoring purposes, when you shop auto or home loans, hard inquiries within a short period of time (within 2-3 weeks of each other) get scored as a single inquiry since you were shopping for a single loan, not multiple loans.

If this isn't helpful, please clarify what you mean and we'll see if we can provide useful info.

Hi whiteSoxrules,

Are you asking if they can use the same hard inquiry to open another account or tradeline? I'm not sure that's what you mean, but I thought I'd take a stab at it.

Can you give us a more thorough explanation as to what you are asking?

Thanks,

Re: Hard Inquiry Merged with an Opened/Approved Account?

Thanks for such quick responses. Well, I was reading an article. And it mentions this.

"What many credit repair (mod cut) guides and services fail to mention is that you can request to merge valid credit inquiries with the resulting accounts. For example, if you applied for an American Express card, you will inevitably receive an inquiry on your credit reports. If you then get approved for the credit card, you will also see the account listed on your credit report as a trade-line. You are in effect, having this account impact your credit reports twice"

Not sure if this makes any sense, however that why I had to ask

Hi whiteSoxrules! In the future, please refrain from posting credit repair sites or linking to credit repair sites, it violates myFICO's terms of service and user guidelines. Thank you for your contributions and cooperation!

Sorry Fused - I did not mean to post a link. I just copied and pasted it and did not know there was a link in the message itself.  Sorry.  Will not happen again, I would not call myself a computer sophisticated person or someone who has computer knowlege.

Thanks

I've never heard of this. The accounts and inquiries on a credit report are in two different sections, and there is no merging them.

They are right that you get a ding for the inquiry and then having a new account also affects your score, but I know no way around this.

In building credit, I look at this as the one-step-backwards-two-steps-forward principle. New accounts hurt a bit in the beginning, but they ultimately help you build healthy credit.

Do you have a link to this article?  I would be curious to know under what premise they are citing a "merge" of the inquiry.  I would love it if inquiries for approved accounts went away....but I have never heard of this, nor seen it.

Re: Hard Inquiry Merged with an Opened/Approved Account?

If take the last part of the first sentance and use it to search with using your favorite search engine you will find the article. The upshot of the article it is someone's why of trying to getting hard inquiries removed after you spend $$ for the stuff. I would say the it is not with the $$. One it easy fairly easy to figure out which inquiry resulted in a new account being opened. I would believe that FICO takes the into consideration (IMO). I have never seen anything valdiates the premise used in the article. IMO it is a complete waste of money.

Hard Inquiry when applied, then another when opened the account( Personal LOC)

I applied for a personal LOC with Wells Fargo Bank. When I applied they ran a hard inquiry.  Then when the account was opened another inquiry showed up on my credit report from Wells Fargo.  Why would they run another credit inquiry. I did not authorize. Can I get them to remove.

It was about two weeks since I applied and then opened the account.  Is it true that inquiries within two weeks of each other only count as one.  Either way I want them to remove this 2nd inquiry.
