Hard Inquiry - what's the next step in trying to get it removed?

Back in December 2022, I had applied for an Ally card through CK but even though CK had said that me chances were 'outstanding', the application was declined and I just got a message that I would get more information in 7 to 10 days.  Nothing came in that time frame and quite honestly I had forgotten about it when about a month after the decline, I received the following e-mail:

Capture.JPG

Finally I got the explanation and even better, they said the HP was removed from my CR's.  Only problem is, they did NOT removed the inquiry.  After about 2 months of just waiting, I sent Ally a letter in the mail with a copy of their email stating that the inquiry would be removed, and asked them to please follow through and remove the inquiry.  Fast forward another couple of months where I never heard a peep from Ally and the inquiry still remains on both my TU and EX reports.  So this time I filed a dispute with both TU and EX and that got me nowhere, but at least I heard back from them.  They said the only way the inquiry can be removed is by Ally.

So I am back to the beginning again.  Should I contact Ally again even though I dfidn't even get the benefit of a response of any kind?  It clearly says in their email that they removed the inquiry but that's not true and I would much rather get the inquiry removed than just let it sit there.  I just don't know what the next course of action should be.

Did you attach the email to your disputes with the bureaus?

Yes, I attached the email from Ally as well as a copy of the letter I had sent to Ally asking them to follow through with what they said.

CFPB complaint seems to work for me about everytime I file one.  Make sure to upload a copy of that email.

I've had that stupidness happen before. Honestly tho, you're almost at the point where it doesn't make a difference. Unless it's just the principle,  which I can't argue with. I'd probably not let it spoil my weekend.

They have a skyscraper in uptown Charlotte that's 20 minutes from me. Let me know if you need me to go there wearing a Chewbacca mask and raise hell.  They'll take that frigging inquiry off!

If you're really determined on getting it removed as they promised, and they continue to basically ignore you, I would follow through with a complaint to the CFPB as suggested above.

If you decide to take advantage of the offer made by @805orbust and his Wookie mask, I hope someone will let me know as I'm not all that far from Charlotte, and might be worth the drive to witness this in action first hand Smiley Very Happy

Best of luck!

@JoeRockhead  perfect because I'll probably need someone to bail me out!!!  100% worth it tho!  And of course, I'll pay you back!  🤣

Aht! Aht! I am not liking that energy! One must think positively. Chewbacca would not go into a mission assuming capture, regardless of whether it led to that or not. You've got this!

@JoeRockhead just trying to work the Jedi mind tricks because I know bail can be costly, moreso if they decide not to show up in court, and we are obviously dealing with a rebel!

@805orbust no worries! If it comes to that, I am sure we can crowdfund your bail. I feel that MF should have some sort of member defense fund to pay legal fees as well. Just a suggestion to make an already great community that much better! Smiley Wink

5 points, and 3 come back in 6 months.

A lot of work for almost nothing.    Smiley LOL

Would be nice if my problems were so small this was something I had time to worry about.
