Hey everyone,
I'm in a frustrating loop and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced something similar. I was added as an authorized user on someone else Capital One credit card about 4 months ago. Cap1 confirmed (that's what the rep. said) that they are reporting the account to all three major credit bureaus
However, the account is only showing up on my TransUnion report. I’ve already contacted Equifax, and they said Cap1 hasn’t reported the account at all.
Has anyone else had trouble getting Capital One to report to Equifax (or any other bureaus)? If so, how did you resolve the issue? I’d appreciate any advice or insight. Thanks!
I added my daughter as an AU to two of my CapOne cards and it appeared on all three CB's rather quickly- within 2-3 weeks. I added my sister as an AU to two of my CapOne cards and after about five weeks when they didn't appear on her CB's, I used her cards for a few purchases and they finally showed up. For reference, my daughter lives in the same town as I do; whereas my sister lives in a different state. All cards were activated the day they arrived in the mail and my daughter used her cards immediately. I think CapOne wanted to see use on the AU card before reporting? 🤷🏻♀️
Nuclear option is to file CFPB complaints against Equifax and Experian for failure to report correct information and as part of your complaint you should point out that you've already confirmed with Capital One that they are reporting to all 3 CRAs and that Transunion is reporting correctly. If you follow that path I'd suggest you first file against Equifax and let that play out before making a complaint against Experian. You really can't file normal disputes as there isn't anything being reported to be disputed. It may take Equifax close to the allowable 30 days to repond back to the CFPB complaint. In the meantime break out the lawn chair, popcorn, and beer and enjoy the show.
The underlying argument is that since Transunion is reporting and Capital One confirmed they're providing info to all 3 CRAs the most likely issue isn't with correct information being provided, it's with correctly reporting the information provided. That's on the bureaus.
