Thanks, thotgal!! Gives me a good idea of how to proceed...even tho I'm trying to arrange a settlement as opposed to a delete. If anyone else has a good settlement offer wording, II'd love to see it!! do yo think I should just email to Lisa direct, or send to him first?!

Mine wasn't a settlement. And thankfully they only added 27 cents to the original debt.

I think emailing Lisa directly is a good idea. She seems to respond fairly quickly, and if she's not in a position to make a settlement offer, I'm guessing she could direct you to someone who could.

Good luck!

Thanks for the  advices!

I'll send an email to Lisa making some kind of offer and keep my fingers crossed that I'm as fortunate as those of you that had good success!

Re: Has anyone had any success with NCO Financial?

Posted this as new thread also!!  Very anxious!!

CAN I ASK FOR PDF FROM NCO ON A CAP1 CO ?!?!?!

Been getting a lot of help on this forum about my Cap1 charge off from 05-05.  NCO is the CA, but is not reporting.....only Cap1 in on CR.

In looking for a sample settlement letter to send NCO, I've just read of someone's bad experience of paying NCO per agreed settlement w/ NCO, then CCC still showed them with a  balance.  I assume CCC wasnt 'involved' in the settlement agreement?!?!  I've received a few letters from NCO offering settlement, but I want to email the NCO contact provided on the thread and ask for lower settlement amount to be considered.

I was feeling very confident about emailing NCO per all the good posts under "NCO success" thread,
but now I'm nervous again.

How can I word the offer letter to NCO to include a guarantee that whatever we agree on is also agreed upon by the CCC?!?!  I'm hoping someone will advise that since  this is evidently as assigned collection as opposed to one purchased (CAP1 reprting--not NCO) that I shouldn't have a problem, but I would sure like some advices and opinions before I proceed.

I've searched threads but haven't found a sample letter yet that fits this situation. Many are PFD and I don't think that's applicable in my case as NCO is the CA but not the 'reporter', so I don;t think NCO could agree to delete.  If I'm wrong in that thinking also, please let me know!!

PLEASE, IF ANYONE CAN GIVE ME SOME HELP WITH WORDING FOR A SETTLEMENT OFFER LETTER, and/or IF PFD IS POSSIBLE,  I'D BE MOST GRATEFUL!!

Re: Has anyone had any success with NCO Financial?

OH MY GOD!!!! IT WORKED!!!!!!!!  I e-mailed this Mike B from a thread on this post and I checked my credit report and both collections were deleted.   I don't know what my score is yet, I will check that later.  These collections were not going to be taken off my report for 3 and 4 years.  Gone zip zero, as if it never happened.  God Bless Mike B!!!   OH MY GOD I can't believe this worked.  I am trying to get a house loan, and I think with these deletions I just might have it.

AND Rom828.  It really works.  I mentioned that I was trying to buy my first house and cut and pasted account information from my credit reports so it was real clear.  Very easy to follow so he would be able to find the information quick.  I sent out the e-mail on Friday March 7th and Tonight I was alerted that they were deleted.

Good Luck,  Thank you Mike B thank you

I'm in this exact situation, it still shows up as being reported by the OC, but NCO is handling the collection. (it's been 3 years since last payment)

Re: Has anyone had any success with NCO Financial?

If any one cares here is a copy of what I wrote:

Dear Mr. Barrist,

I am sending this email in hopes that you can or would be willing to help me. I applied for my first home loan on 2/20/2008, I was turned down. When I inquired as to why I was turned down, the mortgage representative advised I had 2 collection accounts on my credit report. I subsequently have paid the collection amounts. I was taken to the emergency room and admitted in to the hospital for a hernia repair.  I was in school for a new career and had not been very responsible with my finances at the time.  It has been two years since then and I have been taking financial responsibilities very seriously. I settled these as soon as I could, the debts have been paid in full with payments made on t ime, by check.

Anyway, I'm sending this email to request the removal of these collection accounts from my credit report. I work really hard to keep my credit straight and I'm very conscientious about paying my bills on time. I don't have any late payments on any of my credit cards or auto loans. Even when my credit report reflects Collection Account Paid it is still very damaging to my credit report.  Can you please delete these paid items?

Here is the email I sent it to  mike.barrist@ncogroup.com

Good luck to all who try this!!!!

Re: Has anyone had any success with NCO Financial?

Michelle, this is awesome!  I am so happy for you!

And thanks for sharing your email...gives me a much better idea how to word mine.

My situation is a little different in that I'm trying to work out a settlement to pay them on the odl CO, but it sure seems like they are willing to work with us 'debtors'!!

I was able to get my mortgage in October with this CO on my record, but I want to refi at a better rate and to get some equity out for repairs, so my mtg broker has advised I really  need this CO to show as 'paid'.....and even better if it can be deleted!!!

Thanks again for the info!!  This whole thread has been so encouraging!!

Re: Has anyone had any success with NCO Financial?

I too had an NCO account for Columbia Gas as a collection.  I sent an email to Mike Barrist.  I got a call back from Lisa's office and they did a PFD on the spot.  Amount was a little over $500 on a final bill after cancellation of service we were not aware of.

Within 3 days NCO was deleted from all three credit bureaus.  Since this was a new collection (July 2007), it really made a difference in my FICO score going up.

I can't speak for everyone, but NCO was easy to deal with and very pleasant.

It is definitely worth it to take a chance on an email to them.

Re: Has anyone had any success with NCO Financial?

I'm glad you all had success. I mailed a PFD. No reponse. Emailed last weekend. Still no response.

Re: Has anyone had any success with NCO Financial?

Sidewinder.. don't give up. I think it took almost 3 weeks before I finally received a response from Lisa.

I was almost ready to give up, but decided to try one more time, and I CC'd al.zezulinski@ncogroup.com (Executive Vice President of NCO). I don't know if that made a difference, but Lisa replied within a couple of hours.

Good luck!
