I tried disputing an address online that has nothing to do with me, and Experian's response is "it was obtained from a creditor or from public records" -- **bleep**. I have an address in one state, where I live plus a PO Box down the street so I can get mail and not get on the states hideous mailings lists to the home I live in!
Not only that, but Experian says to "contact the entity that listed this" and doesn't even say who it was that listed it. What's worse is that whatever address this is, is listed as my current address and it's not.
I will attempt calling them on Monday and having them remove it, and hopefully they don't give me a runaround because they are crazy if they think I am in two states at once.
On Experian reports, each address has an "identifier" number. Check your accounts to see which account matches that identifier.
Have you been added as an authorized user to someone else's account? IF so, that creditor, when reporting to the credit bureaus can update your address with the actual card holder's address. It happened to me while back when a close friend of mine added me to his Cap One cc. Reported to all 3 bureaus, but only EX updated my address with his address. I did not have to do nothing, when i apped for another card down the road, and put my actual address, it did update with the current address again.
Another possibility is if you are co-signer on an account for another person. I was co-signer on a car loan and garage address (where the other person lived) ended up on my EX reports as one of my addresses. EX refuses to remove it and the OC won't either because the loan is closed and "not worth their time to update" according to 3 different CSR.
