Help! Experian won't accept my proof!

What do I do now? I recently sent experian a letter that I got from ATT showing that I do not owe them any money, even though Cavalry Portfolio says I do.

Experian just sent back a stupid form letter that only says:

"Dear so and so, We are responding to your request to verify item(s) on your personal credit report. We have already investigated this information and the credit grantor has verified its accuracy. Please refer to the personal credit report you received for the name, phone number, and address of the credit grantor who verified this information. yadda yadda yadda...."

I gave them NEW PROOF that I DO NOT OWE on this account, even a letter from the OC showing the account doesn't even exist and they're giving me this BS response?? Wth??

What are my next steps?

Please help.

Re: Help! Experian won't accept my proof!

I ran into the same issues a while back with Experian.  I called them and got the run around at first so I fought back.  I certified mailed my letters from the paid creditors multiple times so that I could track them and called when they were received (track online at USPS.com).  I then called the Experian number for disputes and made them find the letters while on the phone in Allen, TX.  and start the investigation / update properly.  Don't take no for an answer with this company.  They will try and do an electronic verification, but that is against what they are suppossed to be doing with these letters.  I have found most CRA reps are lazy and would much rather push a button and say they are done.  Get them to do what you want them (and what they should be doing) to by continually placing that same letter in their office until it is finalized correctly.  I explained to them that if you cannot do your job correctly and want to play with my life (scores do determine our credit life), then I would find someone to come down on them so hard legally that they would feel it for ages.  Sock it to em, just like the collection companies.  They think that they own us, but it is the other way around if your persist enough.  Stay strong and dont give up.

Also double check with the original creditor that you paid and ask them what is wrong.  Ask why they are continually "slapping you in the face" with false verifications.  Know your FCRA rights.  They have already trampled you once with that false electronic verification to EX.  Good luck.  Smiley Wink

Re: Help! Experian won't accept my proof!

As already stated send an  MOV  CMRRR!

Also go to www.ftc.gov and file a complaint about the CRA. then follow through with a letter & copies of everything (from day 1) to the FTC address

Re: Help! Experian won't accept my proof!

Ok.... so...Cavalry (collection agency) says you owe them for an AT&T account (original creditor)..

AT&T states that they do not have any record of alleged debt  - AT&T may have sold that account to Cavalry and purged their system, therefore they would not have your info on file.

If Cavalry only is listed on your credit report... send them a Debt Validation letter CMRR,  your main battle is with Cavalry, they need to provide documentation that you owe them for this alleged debt.

If you have never had an AT&T account (or any phone account with a company that may have been taken over by AT&T) then....

Start your paper trail, document everything, prepare to file suit. Cavalry stinks.

Experian no reason to accept your documentation from AT&T...Unless AT&T itself is reporting that account on your credit report.... It has NO bearing for what a CA is reporting in this case.

What you can do regarding Experian is send a Method of Verification letter CMRR. They will have to supply you with documents regarding HOW they verified this account.

How old is the alleged account DOFD?  Account details?

Re: Help! Experian won't accept my proof!

Ok,

#1 Cavalry says I owe AT&T (more background info in this thread.

#2 On top of having that little fight with Cavalry, in which I will sue if it comes down to it, it is indeed relevant to Experian to pay attention to my proof from the OC. The reason it is relevant is that it proves that the OC has no records. If that is the case they CANNOT continue to report that I owe this because it is a violation of the FCRA, period (both Cavalry and Experian are in violation). Whether or not Cavalry is the collector because they are reporting false information that is causing financial injury. Both are liable for damages.
