Re: Help please, Retailer closed card by their mistake

I say when someone tells you they will call you back do not except that. They are just trying to get you off of the phone. Be adamant about speaking to someone right at the moment. They will get somebody for you to talk to.

Tell them you have heard that story about someone calling you back several times before and are not trying to hear it now. Everybody cannot possibly that busy.

You must really like Fashion Bug to be going through all of this. GL

Re: Help please, Retailer closed card by their mistake

It's not that I like Fashion Bug so much. It's just that

1. I'm trying to get them to stop reporting that they closed it when they say they made an error closing it, as it's made my CR drop 7 points.

2. The card was opened in 1998, so that's a long time to have background and would probably help my score due to the length of time with them.

As to talking to someone else, they say that anyone else/no one else will be able to help me/tell me anything different, as all they have on the screen is that they made an error, and that the bank is working on it. No other information to give, so no one to transfer to. And then we get to, I will call you back in a week if there is update...

And obviously no update. So I think I need to push the issue to make something update, yes?

Any/all comments/suggestions welcome.

Thank you, DF

Re: Help please, Retailer closed card by their mistake

Ok I understand now. Personally, I do not think by your CR's saying close by the grantor it is affecting your score at all. If, when a creditor is doing manual review of your CR's, this issue comes up explain what happened.

Sometimes being closed by credit grantor can mean that the account was inactive, not because they didn't like you or you defaulted on the loan.

But if it just for principle then pursue on.

Re: Help please, Retailer closed card by their mistake

Hi Jaybee,

I would think it would not have affected the score that much, either. However, I have SW, and when they closed the acct, points went down 7 points same day, and there was no other change on CR that day or a few days prior or after. Only that acct.

So that's just my thought. I'm at 698 now, so 7 points would be 705, and I'm shooting for 720 before I refinance the home. (have to wait for the BK to drop off)

I'll update here if anything comes from this with Fashion Bug. Thanks for all your help!!

Regards, Carol

Re: Help please, Retailer closed card by their mistake

There is a lot of other factors that could have caused the 7 pt drop, the fact that account was closed yes, not that it said closed by grantor.

Re: Help please, Retailer closed card by their mistake

Wow. Yesterday I got a call from a nice lady at the CharmingShoppes HQ. After my explanation, she said she would look into my situation and call me back.

At least I got a phone call!! I will follow up again in a week, of course.

Thank you all for your help.
