Help with Negative Items removed after 7 years

I have about 5 negative items on my reports, and it seems that every time I get an updated report from Experian, the date these items are scheduled to be removed from my report extends out another 3-5 months. How are they able to do this? More importantly, what can I do to make them return the dates to what they originally were? I have copies of the old reports that show the older dates. Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.

My understanding from the FTC attorney who prosecuted NCO Financial, Inc. is that the FCRA reporting periods begin the moment any adverse information is reported to a credit bureau.  So, if you have an old report from when it was first reported that is good evidence to go after a company that is renewing those dates.  If a company has changed those dates you can file a complaint with the FTC.
