Help with collections - cannot get a PFD

I settled a account verbally with World Financial Network National Bank (Victoria Secret) charge card 6/15/07 -  for half the balance due 380.32.

Two weeks later, I recieved a email from the collection company (Plaza Associates) stating all payments from here on out need to be sent to them or it may not post to the right account. So I called Plaza Associates and told them this account was settled 6/15/07 for 190.16. They said it wasn't and the balance of 190.16 was still due.

So I sent a PFD to the collection company(8/16/07), only to recieve a letter back offering to settle the account for 70.00 less than the balance due (123.00). So I called them and stated I am willing to pay the whole balance (190.16) if the TL is deleted from all three credit bureaus. They declined and said its is up to WFNNB to authorize that the TL is deleted.

The next day I called WFNNB and advised them I called the collection company and requested the TL deleted from my credit if I pay the balance left in full. I asked for a PFD through them and the agent declined. She said they delete TL's on rare occassion and I do not qualify. She said to qualify they  review your credit and account history and decide if they want to delete it.

This is a charge off account since 2005, but each month it still reports 120+ late. So the only offer I have from them is pay the balance in full 190.16 and they will report it as Paid in full on my credit file. Will this increase my score at all? What should I do? Is there anything else I can do to get this deleted from my credit file.

I hope that you did this before coming to this site. NEVER NEVER talk to a CA by phone. If making any kind of arrangment, even with a CC You can not take them at their word......everything in WRITING!!

Because im sure that your SOL is not past, They MIGHT try & sue....BUT for such a small amount it would cost them much more.

The OC has the right to list on CR  up to 7-7.5 yrs. as well as the CA.at the same time.

When paying the CA you prob. started your SOL over. You left yourself no wiggle room.
I just find it hard that the CA sent you an offer to settle for less.

check your report for drop off date,(look under OC). If you can't find it call the CRA and ask. They will have your DOFD.
If your DOFD is not past, I would pay the $123 and live with it. You can always start GW letters later.

Re: Help with collections - cannot get a PFD

Thanks, but I did not make payment through CA, I made payment with OC (WFFNB). Once the payment of 190.16 was made with them then the OC mailed a letter asking all other payments were made to them. So I mailed the PFD to CA for the remaining balance of 190.16, but they offer to settle the account for 123.00 but did not mention the PFD arrangement.

Should I just pay the full 190.16 and get the paid collection on my credit, or should I continue to fight with the OC and CA trying to get a PFD. Has anyone gotten a PFD from them?

Thanks for the advice

sounds like the CA and the OC are not talking to each other.
Try to get a PFD with the CA @ the $123 amount.....they might ok it...if they do not, they might offer to delete for full payment. If they do not accept ANY PFD....contact the OC and see if they will PFD.
everything CMRRR

If you get an ok for PFD...post the letter in here and we will let you know if it is worded right. IT IS ALL IN THE WORDING!!

DO NOT CALL THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
