I currently have FICO scores in the 580 range. I don't have huge amount of debt but my problem is that I have some vulture collection agencies that have purchased 5yr old debt and inflated it to four times it's original size. Everything I read about these companies is that they are criminals. How do I fight them?

I started with scores in my sig. and moved up fairly quickly with credit repair. What state do you live in? Figuring out your SOL is an important step.

I live in Texas but the accounts show recent activity, which is not correct. One is showing as a medical account. I had always been led to believe that Texas was pretty forgiving of this sort of thing.

Yes, I realize that I will need to get balance on my existing credit card down and work on a better payment history.

Have you tried a PFD (pay for delete)? Is this med collection for a provider or a hospital?

No, I have never had a medical bill this high that I didn't pay cash for.
