Hi Everyone!!

My name is Ben and I am new to the FICO forums!! I have seen many success stories and it motivated me to get all my credit troubles behind me. I just spent 3K on past due collections I am hoping to be in the 600 range all across the board in January. Any support will be appreciated. Thanks everyone!!

If you paid an OC, and if these are CCs, then there might be some gains. If these were CAs, then you won't likely see an increase in scores. But on the flip-side, $3k in debt paydown is nothing to sneeze at. Congrats.

Re: Hi Everyone!!

Thanks for the reply! I was talking to the CA over the phone and he said my score should jump in a few. However, I know everyone on this board knows their stuff. That is a bummer he sure got my hopes up!

Never ever talk to a CA. Never call a CA. And never trust a CA. Their word is never their bond. They will say anything to get you to pay.

However, if paid or settled, you could send a GW to ask them to remove it.

Re: Hi Everyone!!

I think I may. Of the 4800 I was in debt it says 2200 is revolving credit. I paid most of the 2200 off. Do you think this may help my credit score? Thank you again llecs!!

The only "jump" you'll see is in decreased utilization (how much credit available versus how much being used). Otherwise, FICO sees a collection as a collection, paid or unpaid.

Were any of these medical bills??

If you want the best advice on repairing and rebuilding your credit, sneak on over to the "Rebuilding Your Credit" forum and start posting questions and your "baddies!!"

The people in the RYC forum are AMAZING!! And you'll see Ilecs there -- and yep, he's one of the BIGGEST reasons WHY it's so amazing!!!

Re: Hi Everyone!!

Hey Schnapple! I think I will GW the negatives! Do you know what revolving credit is? I have 2200 in that area. I did however pay about 3000 dollars of debt down from 4800. So I think I can get my scores raised.....or at least I am hoping. I may try the military card just not to the point where I am trying to abuse it lol. Service to the country was well worth it because of people like you all! I love this forum.... some amazing people willing to help total strangers. Thanks for the help Schnapple!!
