Imagine a credit reporting agency being jerks. Imagine that!
I never saw anybody post that they got the discounted rate for life. The original via speaking with a rep was two years. That dropped very quickly to one year. The five year deal was hit and miss on the automated system.
Very simple to cancel. If you make any effort you won't be billed.

X2.

it is easy, they will offer 50% off. BUT if you try to reenroll in the future they will not honor the discount and if you try to cancel with your second time being a customer they will say bye! no offer
Not my experience. I reenrolled and got the same discount a 2nd time.
