How Long Before Getting A Score

thanks for everything guys, i think im going to add my wife as a authorized on my BOA CC and we will also try to get a secured BOA card of her own. and hopefully within a month or so a score pops up and were house shopping. ill update in the future.

I am not sure I would bother getting her a secured BofA card. After you add her as an AU and with her other information (CC and auto loan) she should have a pretty good score. Let that alone for a few months before adding any new cards.

ok well, now im split, i was going to get her AU on my card, but then decided not to and just get her secured, but now im on the fence, ive emailed my mortgage broker who is a credit councelor as well and will see what he thinks will be best and quickest way to get my wife a good score.

Adding your wife as an AU will raise her score significantly based on what you have said about the card. Having her apply for a new credit card may raise her score a bit since she has only one card, but it will hurt her age of accounts. I would add her as an AU on your 2 year old card and leave it at that for the time being. I would not be surprised if she ended up with a score of 740 or so based on what you have told us.

ok the card i want to add her too is in good standing now, but up until just recently it usually had beem near limit, and due to service fees the card has gone over the limit once. but right now, the balace is very low, however i always make atleast my minimum payments, its just that it was carrying a high balance for a little while.

Past balances arent going to matter. The only balance that will be used for her scoring will be the balance that is reporting at the time her credit report is pulled. It is normally the balance on your last statement of your creditcard bill. As long as there are no past due balances or as long as the previous payments arent marked as late you will be fine. If you arent sure of how it is reported go to annualcreditreport.com and pull your reports. Two years of credit is much better than 6 months.

sorry this thread is old, but thought id update. a score popped up for my wife in the middle of april. it was better than my score, go figure. anyways, we are short weeks away from closing on our first property. i want to thank everyone here for all the help.
