How can I check if a CA is licensed in my state?

Hi... I need help finding out if ER solutions is licensed in the state of Utah.

I've received a letter from them and made the mistake to call them. I could tell the rep was lying big time.

They are offering me a settlement of 50% and I do have the money to pay them. The debt is valid but I'm just not sure that we owe what they say we owe. I just know that we do owe Qwest some money.

Any help please... What can I do? Does anyone knows if ER solutions does report to your credit?

thanks in advance.

Is ER Solutions licensed in Utah? Should I just take the settlement even though they are not giving me any guaranteed that they won't report it to my husband's credit?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

The website is for collection agencies licensed in Utah. ER Solutions has an office in Renton,Wa. I am assuming, yes they are licensed.

So what would you suggest I do? just pay them and hope that they don't report it? The final bill was from 2005.  I kinda just wanna pay them and be done but my only concern is that they will in fact report to my husband's credit. I'm working really hard to clean it. He has one collection on record and a tax lien that was paid on 2004. I would hate for another collection to report when we can pay them.

thanks so much for your answers and help. I really appreciate it! Smiley Happy

Do you have any idea what this is from????  what the DOFD or DOLA is??  Your SOL is 4-6 years

Send a DV to the CA   CMRRR   IF you didn't ask for their address when you talked to them ....call them back & ask for it....but don't tell them why you want it. You might want to tell them that you need the address to send a check!

OK  you have a letter  is the address the same as what is listed under their license?

Re: How can I check if a CA is licensed in my state?

Well, I know that ER Solutions calls me all the time for a Qwest bill. It is also from 2005 and it has never been on my CR. I am not saying it won't be, just in almost 3 years it has not been. My thought is, if I had the money to pay everything that is in collections or charged off with the OC, that I can still be sued for, I would pay them. Unfortunately, I do not have that kind of money. If I did I probably would not be where I am today. The things I do not believe I owe, there is no way I will pay them. Fortunately, most of them are beyond the SOL. Just my personal thoughts. Others may have other ideas.

What is DOFD or DOLA? The account is from 2005 so I'm assuming it is still within the SOL

The address from the letter is the same as the address from the info I got from the Utah website.

I'm just concerned that I will piss them off and they will actually report it if I DV?  What should I do?

Well... I do have the money to take the settlement but to pay the OC I will actually have to pay the other 50%  and I don't have the full amount which Qwest already told me I would have to pay today. I can pay the CA today but the thing is I don't want them to turn around and sell the remaining balance to another CA or worse report it to my husband's credit.

This is one of the last accounts on my list that need to be taken care of. We were in really bad shape in 2005 and 2006.   We finally decided that 2007 was our wake up call and we started working on his credit. I guess the couple late payments, CA and tax lien alredy in his credit I'm learning to live with but I just don't want one more CA there or we will never be able to buy a house.

Re: How can I check if a CA is licensed in my state?

DOFD  DOLA  and SOL are very important!!!!!!!

SOL (simple)

Without a DV   you do not know if they can legally collect the debt

Does your state require a CA to be licensed or bonded?  If they do & this CA is not.....then the CA can not collect!
