I've had a lot of issues with Equifax updating my credit file too.
It took me around 8 months to get them to update the correct spelling of my name, update my current address and employment information.
I've sent copies of my birth certificate, utility bills, driver's license, direct deposit slip from my employer, social security card, etc. and the only replies I received from them were stated like this...'Information verified and remains. No changes'.
They eventually updated my information. It took 8 months though.
