How can I remove my collections from my credit reports

Hi All,

I need help!

This happened in 2005, I was in a process of chaning my apartment and I had given my change of address to the USPS. But unfortunately something went wrong and I didn't receive few mails and lost few mails for couple of months. In this I lost my Comcast communications bill for $61.00. I was unable to make this payment and they reported to the collection agency. Which I finally got the leeter from collection agency when I corrected the change of address issue. As soon I received the letter I paid the $61.00 for collection agency and cleared it. But this stayed on my credit history by hurting my credit score.

Is there any way I can remove this collection information from my credit history.

Thanks,
Tej

Try a GW and if that doesnt work try to dispute...if they dont respond it might just drop off and remember keep on sending GW and disputes you never know what can happen

GW letter...it is a type of letter that you write to the CA asking them to kindly remove the negative thing basically you have to pull at their heart strings...

Does this also apply to baddies that you know are yours?

Baddies that are yours you should write a GW...obviously that would be the best way to go....if that doesnt work sometimes when you dispute the baddies disappear...it has happened to me...just passing on some experience...but I am new to this so everyone should take my comments with a grain of salt Smiley Happy

New here, trying to follow along in the enumerous topics and overabundant amount of helpful suggestions...

It seems the general suggestion throughout would be to send GW letters to the original source of the debt and then try to dispute it with the CA?  and hopefully somewhere along the line it will be removed?

Sorry, I'm just trying to absorb all the info and just not sure where to start to get the bad stuff removed and disputed.

Thanks for your help!

Dispute inaccurate information-
Send GW letters for accurate lates.

Disputing accurate information can easily backfire-

Not only might disputing accurate information backfire in terms of your FICO score, recommending ways to remove accurate information from your credit report  here in these forums violates our Credit Repair Discussion Guidelines and will cause your posts to be deleted/edited, and if continued after warning, can result in banishment from the FICO Forums.

Your contributions and cooperation here are much appreciated!

Thanks!
