How depressing

I just checked my scores, I worked so hard to get some CA OFF my report only to find that almost EVERY cr updated on my report in Jan making things far worst then before.
I guess I am just destined to be at the bottom of the barrel until I die.
Everytime I try to get something removed something else bites me in the you know what.
I just lost my house, I can't rent anything, I have 2 kids and no where to go, no family, no friends I can live with, I am actually about to be homeless LITTERALLY!

Can someone tell me which was is up, because I am so lost.

Re: How depressing

I can totally relate to where you are coming from. A few weeks ago i was in the same situation as you, i felt like giving up on this whole credit thing. These people on this forum are a god sent, they gave me the strength to keep moving on. Slowly but sure i can see improvements with my credit. The best feeling i have right now is that all of my creditors for except maybe one or two are paid off, which i am currently working on. It's been a long time since i have been able to check my mail and NOT have a past due statement in there or anything.  I really am sorry to hear about your home. We are all going through something right now. Please do not give up because there really is light at the end of the tunnel.

Re: How depressing

What's your situation? Have you considered a debt management program? Do you have a job?

Re: How depressing

Try looking for a rental through an individual instead of a rental management agency.  Those are generally in theweekly paper.

Re: How depressing

I agree about looking for a rental from an individual. My husband and I don't have the greatest credit, which caused some problems when we were moving a couple years ago. After we got shot down by the property management places, we were driving around and saw a sign for a place to rent so we stopped. They called our old landlord to verify we were good tenants and called my husband's new boss (which was his brother) to verify he had a job and then asked how we wanted to pay-cash or check. They even took a check written on an out of state bank.

Re: How depressing

I had a friend in a similar situation and not only did she get the rental, the landlord let her spread the deposit over like the length of the lease to get in.

Check out craigslist.org in your city for rentals from individuals.

Re: How depressing

I have a job, I have no references because dummy me depended on my husband for shelter, now he is gone and so is my and my childrens shelter.
Debt management, all my debt has been charged off years ago but is still on my credit, many of them are way way past the SOL but I can't get any of them removed. If anyone has any tricks for getting them removed please please let me know, as far as I know getting creditors off your history can't be done until the "die" off.
The only people that rent houses where I live are people that own shotgun shacks in very bad neighborhoods, I can't subject my 3 and 15 yro to that, I would live in fear everytime I went to work, that some crack head would try to break in or someone would do a drive by shooting.
I said I would never let myself get into a situation like this again but tadaaa here I am AGAIN.
The only difference was a had 1 relative I lived with but that person passed away.
I know there isn't going to be a "quick" solution to this problem and it can't be done RIGHT NOW.

Thanks for listening and I know this really isn't the place to air my laundry but I need HELP and don't know where to turn.

Re: How depressing

that's what this place is for my dear. i have been where you are. single mom and homeless. thankfully i had friends to take me in til I got on my feet, and I understand you don't have that right now. we've all had problems related to our credit in one way or another, and renting is one of the many things that are so badly effected by mistakes (ours AND the Collection Industry's)

so, the craigslist idea is a good one. of course you know your local area better than the rest of us, but keep trying!! you will see that something will come up. right now in the housing industry there are a lot of people who are renting houses themselves in order to avoid forclosure. in the meantime, is there a local YWCA or other agency that can provide short term housing? It may be a teeny tiny place, but it will keep you warm and dry until things get better, and remember that these tough times are TEMPORARY. in emergency situations where you find yourself unexpectedly homeless, you may be able to get some emergency assistance from the local housing authority.

as far as the credit stuff goes, i have some questions. you said you had a lot of older collections and stuff, but tell us about any new or recent accounts that you have. do you have any positive open TL's right now? if not, then once you get stabilized again, you might consider opening a small account somewhere. in your situation, it will be subprime with nasty fees, but it will start getting your scores up again. new positive history weighs more than old baddies. there are still things you can do once you get into a place and get settled.

don't lose hope.

hugs...
