How do v know an acct sold to CA or not??

Hi Frnds

How do we know whether the OC sold our account to CA or not ?

we have a CA in DW's report but we PIF to the OC.

CA opened : 01/06
reported : 05/06
closed : 05/06

We PIF to the OC in: 04/06

Can you guys tell me how can I GW them & to whom should I do??

If you paid OC, I would start by disputing the CA TL with CRAs as 'not mine'. 

If they can't verify, it will delete.

It will probably delete and you won't have to bother with MOV or GWs.

Had you disputed this TL yet?

No,I haven't disputed that.

recently we spoke to the OC,they told me that they are sending a letter to the CA saying that "you PIF to the OC(to them)".

I got a copy of that letter too.

You should begin a dispute then.

Hope that letter advised the CRAs to remove.

The Content of that letter is :

They didn't mention anything about the removal of the account.


Subject : acct xxxxxxxxxxxx

Please accept this letter as official docu that the xxxxxx(OC) account xxxxxxxxxx(no)
for xxxxxxxxxxxxxx(name)has been paid in full as of April 29 2006.

If you need additional information from xxxxxxxxx(OC),please contact me by telefone at xxx-xxx-xxxx or by email at xxxxxx@xxx.xx


Suggest me how can I proceed to delete/remove it from my DW's history.

Just do that 'not mine' dispute.

No idea what the OC thinks is going to come of that letter.  It does not even reference the CA account which is the problem.  They needed to contact the CA and have them delete... not update... delete.  You paid the OC.

do v need to pay for the CA or OC?

In my case they(CA) didn't even contact us for this account.

They did not sell or they would not have worded the letter as they did or accepted your payment.  This would indicate that the CA was just hired to collect for the OC.  Usually you can still pay the OC at that point, and you did.  You could have paid either,  but paying the OC is always better because...

the CA TL is obsolete and should have been deleted by OC's request to their CA.  Apparently they do not understand that this is what you were asking, which is why they sent you that letter.  CRAs will not have any proof that it references the CA account though the dollar amounts should match. 

This is why you still want to dispute with the CRAs.

So she sent this letter to me & the CA also.

If I dispute this CA acct with CRA's,does it effect my FICO scores?

They can direct their CA to delete.  The CA can delete on their own.  This is a derog on the CBRs and it's a recent one so it is bad even if they had updated it to paid somehow.  It is most certainly affecting the FICO score negatively. 

You can persue it further with them and the FTC, you can DV the CA, but really if it were me I'd forgo the headache and get it fixed myself by disputing with the CRAs and enforcing my my legal rights. I don't anticipate that this will be a hard fix, but if it does not delete you can proceed with other options.
