How do you deal with an Obstinate Creditor?

How do you deal with a Creditor who refuses to remove lates--give you Good Will, give you a "Courtesy Credit Clear"?

I have one such creditor on my report who refuses to budge at any cost. I've called a dozen times, talked to managers, talked to people in different departments. I've disputed online, I've faxed goodwill letters, I've mailed goodwill letters. Still they refuse to do anything.

It's just one 60 day late payment, made back in 2003. The loan has since been paid off with no other lates of any kind.

What can I do? How would you deal with it?

rifleman, it looks like you are doing all that is humanly possible. I honestly don't know what more you can do, as they are not obligated to honor your request.

They are being a horse's behind, and they know it.

The only encouraging thing I can say is that it is almost 5 years old, and the bad effects are diminishing.

He'd better borrow EddieX's skimask for that one though. Smiley Very Happy

Actually Andrson's solution has the advantage of being able to do it from a distance. They just don't get the 'pleasure' of seeing your displeasure expressed personally.Smiley Very Happy

The only things I can think of are probably illegal!  Smiley Wink

But to find a graceful way of staying slid

That is true. From the prone position, he can drop those fools from 500 meters.  I would still borrow EddieX's skimask (I like to be extra careful, you know belt & suspenders approach).Smiley Wink

As entertaining as the other ideas might be Smiley Happy , if this is pretty much all you have left, it's not really hurting your scores.

As a for instance, my 90 finally went over 2 years, and my scores rose 15-20 points. So a 60 that is going on 5 years might be worth, what? 5 points?

If it is causing you to be turned down for CC's, that's a different story. I would try for a recon, though. A 60-day late going on 5 years old, with good history since them, shouldn't be that big of a deal.
