How do you dispute online?

Hi I am a newbie here and I need help. We just got discharged from a ch13 BK in Nov. I pulled my credit reports and need to dispute a couple of things. I saw something on the boards about online disputes....how do you do this? We would like to buy a home in a year or 18 mos so I got alot of work ahead of me. Any info would be great. Thanks Linda

The problem with online disputes is incorrect information tends to come back as verified without much of an investigation.

I strongly suggest that anytime you want to dispute, that you do it through the mail (through Certified Mail with Return Receipt).  That is your proof that you sent it.  It also helps if you send any statements or other written proof that backs up your claims.  Based on my limited experience, the CRAs seem to take mail via CMRR more seriously than any online dispute. 

As for finding the addresses, its easy..just google "<name of credit reporting agency> address".

I usually fax mine to the bureaus - can send any supporting documentation and copies of DL and SSA card (proof of ID) and the 'send receipt' is proof that they received it.  Saves mailing time and costs.  If mailing, send it CMRRR.
