How do you monitor your scores online?

Hi all,

Is it just thru myfico.com that you pay the monthly fee?

What other sites (is that allowed to even mention?) do you pay for monitoring?

I just need help knowing which one to sign up with, rather which one to stay with.

It is so overwhelming and I just need to get a grip on it.

Also, how many times do you update to view your score?

I see a lot of people with like a monthly update on thier signature. I am just looknig for some direction.

Thanks!

Madie

Creditchecktotal. ... u can try it fir 7 days for a dollar and when u go to cancel on the 7th day they'll offer it to you for 15 a month instead of 30. You get a new experian fico8 score and report everyday and all 3 bureau report and fico scores once a month... best deal ever

I also use credit karma so I can see my report once a week for equifax and transunion (but you don't get a fico score, it's vantage score 3)..... but the two sites together serves me perfectly

Re: How do you monitor your scores online?

I use both MyFICO and CCT. When I signed up for MyFICO, I got a price of $19.99 a month. That gets me monitoring with updating of scores when certain activities occur, and a 3-bureau report once a year that includes a bunch of different FICO scores (auto, mortage, bank, etc.). I think MyFICO is $29.95 a month for 3 bureaus, but you get quarterly reports. I have the CCT deal at $15 a month, and as previously stated, that gets daily scores/reports for Experian, plus once a month scores/reports for all three. I also like Credit Karma because I get a weekly look at TU and EQ reports. Just ignore those scores usually, unless the go up, then I like 'em!

What's the advantage to having myfico too? Just that you get ALL the scores? Is it really worth paying that much for?

Re: How do you monitor your scores online?

No, I could probably drop MyFICO at this point. I really wanted to see the dashboard go to all yellow, and that happened this morning! I guess if TU or EQ changes, I'll see it on MyFICO before my once a month CCT report is available.

When I got started rebuilding, MyFICO was awesome because I had so many things changing. Now it's pretty much leveled off. Plus CCT wasn't available back then. Plus I get my money's worth just from these boards.

For general monitoring I use the major free sites: Credit.com, Credit Sesame and Credit Karma. They all provide VantageScore 3.0. Credit.com also provides an Experian National Equivalency score. None of the scores correlate to Fico - but Fico 4 and Fico 8 don't correlate either.

Really, each of these sites provide useful info including credit report summaries that can help you improve credit over time. Check them out. Of the three, Credit Karma is most helpful - IMO.

Knowing your Fico score(s) is important when applying for new credit and they can be purchased at any time. However you can establish a plan for building credit and monitoring progress using a free service. I keep an open mind and include both Fico and VantageScore (VS) in my signature.

Fico 9: .......EQ 850 TU 850 EX 850

Re: How do you monitor your scores online?

A difference between MyFico and CCT that wasn't mentioned is that MyFico provides updated scores when something triggers an alert. CCT will alert you, but will not provide an updated score. You only get the updated score once a month with them. With MyFico, your scores are pretty much current, but not totally always. There are things that do not trigger updates, but affect your score. Honestly, for what MyFico charges, I think that any change on the report should be a trigger and provide an updated score but sadly, it isn't so.
