How does a TL deletion affect credit score?

Hi, New to this awesome site. When a charged-off/collection credit card account is deleted from CRAs, does that adversely affect one's overall credit age? A couple of my accounts will be deleted in the next couple of months since it has been 7 years, but the one with Cap1 I paid in full recently. I am considering asking them to reopen it if it will help my score. Thoughts? Thanks, upmyscore2008

It can affect your avg age- BUT payment history carries more wieght than avg age-  I would rather have a clean report that can be built on that a derog thant nothing can be done with-

I would re-open the capone
I would at least make sure I had at least 2 open credit cards with low balances and the highest CL's I could get.

RTC101T- Revolving utl is very important in FICO scoring-

Thanks, Tim.

I have 2 other more recent lines of credit, both of which have never been late and the debt is 25% of CLs.

I was thinking about asking Cap1 via a GW if they would remove the negative remarks and reopen the account since I paid in full close to the end of 7 year period. I've heard Cap1 is not the best, but would like to reopen account if they removed the negative info. Has anybody had any luck doing that?

You could send Cap 1 a goodwill letter. I am not sure if this would be effective unless the account is still open. If the account is still open then a goodwill letter would be a good option. However, if the account is closed Cap 1 will probably just tell you to open a new account.
