How does the 7 year rule work with account that were sold?

I had a BOA credit card back from 2006 that went deragatory in 2007. It was sold to Midland in 2010. Does the 7 years start in 2007 or 2010? If its 2007 it should be coming off this year. Credit Reports are showing Midland account opened in 2010. Do I have to wait until 2017 now because the account was sold???

Actually it appears that EQUIFAX does NOT show the collection .Transunion and Experian do.
