How is credit karma this inaccurate?

My husband has a score of 601 TU and 595 EQ credit karma scores. He pulled his fico scores and they're about 70 points higher than that. Which ones do you trust?

Fico. Credit Karma scores are garbage. Totally ignore them and just use it to monitor accounts.

Thank you. I figured as much that's why I convinced my husband to pony up the $30 a month to have the monthly service for accurate scores.

Accurate scores are important but paying $30/month for them may not be needed - consider credit cards that provide monthly FICO scores on each statement, Discover and Barclaycard being two of them.

796 TU FICO 08 (08/2018)
758 TU FICO 08 (01/12/2016)
753 TU FICO 08 (11/21/2015)
740: EQ Score Power (Beacon 5.0) FICO 04 (01/23/2015)
755 TU FICO 08 (01/21/2015)
652 TU Lender Pull (06/10/2014)
665 TU FICO 08 (05/21/2014)
Goal: 800+

This is a VERY common topic so don't overlook existing threads as a resource.

Accuracy has nothing to do with how well a given scoring model mimics another.  Do not rely on such assumptions.  Do not assume you can "trust" just one score.  Do not use a score generated by one model to determine a score generated by a differnet model.  Different models use different algorithms that evaluate report data differently and can have differing point scales.  The VantageScores provided by CK are not intended to replicate FICO models.

All this applies to the FICO models as well as there are many FICO models used by creditors (see also the Understanding FICO Scoring subforum and its stickies) and the specific model will have an impact on the number generated.  Don't simply assume that one FICO model applies to all creditors.  Always consider the specific scoring model & CRA and the relevance of a given combo to a creditor.  If, for example, a creditor uses a TU FICO 8 then that's the only score that will matter to that creditor.  An EQ FICO 4 will not be relevant for that creditor.  Nor will a TU FICO 8 Bankcard or anything that isn't specifically a TU FICO 8.

Lkie any other tool you need to understand how to properly use the tool.

Unless you know for certain that you have a creditor that uses the VantageScores that CK provides.  Again, do not rely on oversimplifications and always consider model & CRA relevance per creditor.

All scores are accurate but only for their own models.  Again, you cannot determine accuracy by comparing the numbers generated by models.  Again, consider relevance versus relying on trust/real/fake/accurate/true etc.
