How long do you think it will take to get my correct CC limit updated on EQ?

I filed a dispute with EQ for having the wrong CL associated with my Cap One card. They had it marked as $335, which is actually my balance. This made it look like I was at 100% utilization. It's not that big of a difference, and any human would probably think it's strange to have a limit that wasn't a round number. But a computer algorithm will ding me for it, so I wanted it fixed.

It looks like they sent it to Cap One for verification. Technically, Cap One has 30 days to respond, but do you think it will take that long, since I'm not disputing my balance?

Also, if I submit a CU application in the meantime, will it hurt the app to have a dispute noted? Will they see that the dispute is about the limit, or will they think I'm disputing the balance, which might be more of a red flag in getting a starting card with my app?

My EQ 5 is still decent at 728. I really only wanted to fix the limit on my report because I thought it might raise my FICO 8, which is 92 points lower.

Where are you seeing this? Check annualcreditreport.com.

Re: How long do you think it will take to get my correct CC limit updated on EQ?

The incorrect limit/utilization information came from pulling all three of my reports via annualcreditreport.com. Only Equifax reported the wrong credit limit, indicating it's a problem with them, not Capital One (TU and EX had it right).

I paid MyFICO.com for a one-off mortgage score report to see my FICO 5. My FICO 8 for EQ I get for free here.

I'm of the understanding that since covid, we are allowed one free credit report pull every 7 days on annualcreditreport. com. I have to wait until Saturday to check again to see what's been fixed. If the Capital One balance isn't fixed by then, I have to wait another week. Technically, I can check on myequifax.com, but the site has been glitching and sometimes says it cannot show my report (maybe when it's actively being worked on because of the dispute?). Yesterday, it looked like my report was frozen for a while. Then it changed after I called to complain that I had never frozen it.

I don't know if I should go ahead with a CU app or wait. The card with the limit dispute is my only card, so I would prefer it to look perfect on the application. But 30 days is a long time to wait, and I'm not sure it matters. Will lenders see exactly what I'm disputing? I don't want them to think I'm disputing the balance, which is a red flag that I might do that with them as well.
