Re: How long does it take to realistically jump up 100-120 points?

Yes, what is up with EQ?  They lag way behind and it's starting to irritate me!  On EQ and EX, I have the exact same things reporting for the exact length of time.  EQ is 50 points behind EX.  That's crazy!  I really need my EQ to jump because my bank uses them for loan decisions and I want to go through my bank since I get a rate reduction for automatic payments through my checking.  EQ needs to get with the program.

It seems like it goes back and forth last month it seemed like TU was the slow one this month is EQ. Do you think EX is next. Smiley Very Happy

Doubt it. EX is very quick to report. I see accounts on EX weeks before EQ and TU.

Well that's good news. It seems like I am going to have to rely on TU (The high) and EX (The middle)to get my house since EQ is insisting on being my lower score (The killer). And I had such high hopes for EQ Smiley Sad

Re: How long does it take to realistically jump up 100-120 points?

Hello all!  I am new at this and have a question.  I was totally shocked at how low my score is!  My Equifax is 481.  I need at least a 620 to get a mortgage loan.  This is what I have done so far.  I have several disputes out.  3 installment accounts that are not mine.  They are paid in full but showing 5-6 30 days or more lates.  I have several goodwill letters out and waiting for a reply. (stating that my husband was out of work)  I am paying 2 credit cards a month to less than 50% and making all payments on time.  Do you think I can get my score up in 6 months?  Any other suggestions?  Any advice on dealing with Capital One?

There are many factors that will be considered to get your score where you want it. So far since feb I have had a 84 point gain TU and 66 for EX and a combined -2 for EQ (initially lost about 28 points and gained back 26) I had similar issues. Collections are hard to determine I had boosts at 2 and a loss (I think it affected hx) at another.

You are definitely on the right track disputing what is inaccurate and paying dowm cc balances. Is it possible to get them down to under 10% and then not use them for more than that?

Getting util down has helped many of us  see a big boost in score. Continuing to pay on time and getting those lates to age will have less of a negative impact on your scores.

Also, you are definitely in the right place for advice. There are some extremely knowledgeable contributors who have started where you and I have and are now in the 700 club. I is possible so don't despair!!

Re: How long does it take to realistically jump up 100-120 points?

I'm glad I found this site. For years I thought my credit was the worst in the whole world.  As a result I didn't apply for any new credit and stopped using credit cards about 7 or 8 years ago (or whenever debit cards were introduced).  With the long credit history and no new debt and my student loan remaining in good standing the whole time, my score was actually way better than I thought. I came in last month with a score of 615. I recently sent in a list of disputes/updates so I'm waiting to see if it will go up some.

I'm just glad to know I'm not alone!

Re: How long does it take to realistically jump up 100-120 points?

I used to be in the high 500's/low 600's. I don't think I ever knew what my lowest score was--I wish I could see the history of my scoring. I have increased my scores nearly 100 points or more in about 6 months--they are all hovering slightly over 700 now, and my goal is to get them to 760 by the end of this year. I think if I do everything right I can be there. But I am mildly obsessed with improving myself, and have very little tolerance for things that don't appear to work, and it's probably why you see me get mad at things on this forum from time to time for which I am sorry.

As for how I did it it's too long of a story to list, but basically I pull my credit every single day and pay for my Fico's from this site frequently. I research nearly anything and everything to do with credit, and I keep a journal and a important numbers docs as well as hard copy folders of all things credit related. I treat my credit like a young man treats his first love

You and me both, rifleman. I not only carry my purse with me to work everyday, but also a bag that has a 3-ring notebook for each credit bureau and all my  bills for the current month in a accordian file. Life is alot more simple when  you are organized!!!!Smiley Wink
