How long for Equifax to address dispute?

I am in the process of buying a home and there was a tax lien from the mid-1990s showing up on my credit report. The lien was satisfied in the late 1990s but doesn't show the release date on Equifax. It was on both EQ and TU but I disputed with TU using their online form and it was deleted from that report within 48 hours.

I am waiting for EQ to address this because I want it either off the report or for them to insert the date that the lien was released. I'm sure it's affecting my scores.

I filed the dispute on 2/24 and it says PENDING and a supposed resolution date of 3/24. I realize they all say it can take up to 30 days but TU addressed it quickly and I haven't gotten a "periodic email" from EQ yet about this. The bank will be pulling my report again before closing and I'd like to have that off there or accurately reflected so it doesn't hold anything up.

Anyone have lengthy waits for EQ to address an online dispute?

Thanks.

Re: How long for Equifax to address dispute?

It all depends on how fast they get a reply to the CDV that they sent out.  Tax liens usally report for about 7 years from the date of release/payment. Make sure that your credit reports are listing it as paid or it can remain indefinately on Equifax and Trans Union and 15 years for Experian.

The amount of time an unpaid tax lien can stay on your report is not determined by the CRA reporting it.  It is determined by the FCRA.

And you are correct about it affecting your score.

* EDITED! *

Tax liens usally report for about 7 years from the date of release/payment.

Was just letting the OP know that sometimes CRA's  won't remove these items when they reach FCRA SOL for reporting unless the consumer notices it to  have them remove it or never pull a report to know. There computers aren't set up to purge this information, and public record listings even trade lines can remain on a persons report well past FCRA sol for reporting. Happens all the time, just letting OP and everyone else to be diligent.

Re: How long for Equifax to address dispute?

That is not what I was talking about.  Unpaid liens stay indefinitely which is not 15 years.

Re: How long for Equifax to address dispute?

Read the OP's post again, we weren't even talking about an unpaid tax lien they said it was satisfied, and I replied to them that 7 years from the date of payment or release, I mentioned no where in my post about unpaid tax liens staying for 15 years.  I mean that after that amount of time TU will remove it but EQ won't.

I realize you were not talking about unpaid tax liens.  The comment in red, that you made, is why I said what I said.  According to the FCRA they can stay indefinitely.

And I was just pointing out that the CRAs don't make that decision which is what your post might lead some to believe.

Re: How long for Equifax to address dispute?

Assuming they will correctly delete the tradeline I would still expect Equifax to take 3 weeks or more to delete. That seems to be the way they operate. Good luck in getting this removed. Hopefully it shouldn't increase your mortgage rate if they come back verified since they use the middle score anyway. I've had far more problems with this CRA than the other two by far.
